GLCF PI visits Minister of Science and Technology for China

GLCF Principal Investigator, John Townshend, recently visited Beijing, China, at the personal invitation of the Minister of Science and Technology, Xu Guanhua. He provided advice on international cooperation in earth observation. Topics included the Minister.s current chairmanship of the Committee on Earth Observing Satellites and the work of the Group on Earth Observations set up during the ministerial summit in Washington DC last July. During his visit, John gave presentations on recent research to the National Remote Sensing Center for China, the Institute of Remote Sensing Applications of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Normal University, the Chinese Meteorological Society's annual meeting and the Chinese National Satellite Meteorology Center.
