The Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCIL) at the University of Maryland has provided us tools to visualize our data holdings using treemaps. With this technology, we can view our entire online data store and it aids in finding missing, extraneous, and duplicate data. The current version uses metadata from the underlying file system to generate the treemaps. Future plans have been made to integrate the tools with our database to also include our archived holdings. Additional information on treemaps can be found at http://www.cs.umd.edu/hcil/treemap

  • Contribution of 32 Landsat images

GLCF recently received a contribution of 32 Landsat images for an area in the Russian Far East, an area for which there is currently no landsat data in our archives. We would like to thank Dale Miquelle of the WCS Asia Program (owner of the images) and Gillian Woolmer of the Wildlife Conservation Society (facilitated in the sharing process) for sharing their data with us. This data will not be available for download for a few months.
